A Fighting Chance is the 4th novel in the Running Into Love Series by Annalisa Nicole. This book was only supposed to be a novella about Max and Chloe, I have to say I am so glad that this turned into a full length novel. Max and Chloe's story had so much to tell that it wouldn't have been done justice in novella form. I have read all the books in this series so far and I have to say that each book just reminds me why I love reading Annalisa's books. Her books are always filled with such heart and emotion. I also love that she starts the book in the thick of the story, without adding a bunch of background stuff that doesn't need to be told. Her books are fairly quick reads and are mild on the drama side. She knows how to create a love story that just grabs at your heartstrings and doesn't let go. She also knows how to create characters that you just want to love and be a part of their world.
I have to say this book was probably the most emotional one for me. This book takes a look at the dark side of depression and what can happen to a person who lets their demons over take their lives. Max and Chloe definitely didn't have an easy road to their HEA, they incurred many ups and downs, but in the end they realized what they really needed was each other and the love and support they both gave.
"Out of the darkness comes beauty and love. Never forget the road that you've traveled, because if chosen differently, you wouldn't be where you are today"...Max
We met Max and Chloe for the first time in Book 2 (I'll Take A Chance, Kyle and Amelia's story). We also saw them some in Book 3 (Second Chance, Adrian and Shay's story). I knew these two characters were going to have an interesting story to tell. We truly got to the heart of these characters in this book. There is so much I want to say about Max and Chloe and their road to happiness, but it would ruin the story, so I am just going to say, please read this book, you need to experience the love that Chloe and Max feel for each other.
As always we got to see the whole Wellington clan and all the extras to the family. It's great to keep up with all the past couples and the new characters that we have yet to learn about. We got to meet a new character in this book...Savvy. She ended up befriending Chloe and turned out to be a great friend to her and Chloe a great friend to Savvy when she needed one. I wouldn't mind seeing Savvy linked with Aiden someday down the road. This book really just let the reader know just how strong this family's love and bond is...They have some serious obstacles to overcome in this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for that love story that isn't full of the outside drama and angst we see these days. Each of these books can be read as a standalone, but to really appreciate all the characters, I would suggest reading them in order.
